New England Patriots WR Welker could miss Week 1 NFL Regular Season
With folks already wondering whether New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will be well enough to take the field when the season kicks off for the Pats on Sept. 14 against the Buffalo Bills, there is more potential bad news in New England: Wide receiver Wes Welker also might not be ready, according to the Boston Globe.
Welker has an “undisclosed injury” and Welker says he’s doing everything he can to get everything ship-shape for the opener but he took the company line and said he couldn’t actually comment on how bad the injury is: “We really don’t speak about those things,” he said. The NFL provides anything but cheap health insurance and the Pats have the best trainers
in the business. Yet one has to wonder the extent of Welker’s injury and what surgery would mean for the Patriot’s season. Belichick is known for playing a shell game with his injury reports and I don’t see us learning any more information until just before game time.
